The Lancashire Mind Community Wellbeing Challenge was designed to bring together communities in the region and focus on implementing a project that would benefit and boost mental health and wellbeing in the area.
The Fleetwood Community Wellbeing Challenge started pre-lockdown face to face and was then taken online. The members of the group were so committed to driving sustainable, positive change to their community, they even became a constituted group named #FleetwoodWellbeingWay, with seven Challengers on the management committee.
The concept was around the 'Five Ways to Wellbeing' and introducing this system to the public in an easy, fun and family-friendly way.
The idea is to travel a route named Fleetwood Wellbeing Way and at different stages there are challenges to do. Developing the community feel even more, they set up a Facebook group where locals can post selfies of their challenges and keep up to date with events and wellbeing tips and resources.
The Facebook page is also an excellent resource for people who may not be able to walk the route, they can still do the challenges from the comfort of their own home.
The launch took place on Saturday 8th August and was met with much enthusiasm for the project.
Victoria, Chair of Fleetwood Wellbeing Way Challenger had this to say about the launch:
''The launch went so well yesterday! The ribbon was cut and Fleetwood Wellbeing Way was officially opened!
With six representatives of the newly constituted Fleetwood Wellbeing Way group, a representative from Healthier Fleetwood and Wyre Council, we walked socially distanced along the route in two small groups, whilst George from Fleetwood TV filmed some footage, which we can't wait to see. Once the route and some of the challenges were completed we began to send invites to join our Facebook group (please check the Facebook group out).
In less than 24hrs we've already had a couple of messages that will lead to our Fleetwood Wellbeing Way forging links within a large community workplace.''
