Our whole school approach to mental health has been co-designed with Mind, alongside other local Minds, children, young people, parents, and the school workforce.
The whole school approach gives the entire school community the things they say they desperately need and want us to provide. It involves a self-assessment tool for schools and tailored assemblies, workshops, 1-to-1s, information and training for everyone who’s part of school life.
Working collaboratively with each school, our approach aims to help young people, parents and the school workforce to:
- cope more easily with the challenges of everyday life
- manage stress
- build supportive relationships with their peers.
Lancashire Mind used our experience of working with schools to feed into the development of the whole school approach in 2017. We then piloted the approach with four schools during the 2018/19 academic year and are currently delivering in a further four schools in 2019/20.
