Hi, I'm Emma.

I am the Fundraising Lead for Lancashire Mind and my typical week revolves around all things fundraising as well as communications to the media and the local community.

For this week's blog post I wanted to write about something we haven't covered yet and that is our fundraisers and supporters.

Our Fundraisers & Supporters are Part of the Team

Without these individuals, community groups and businesses we would not be able to do so much of what we do. From sharing our posts on social media to taking part in a whole host of fundraising challenges - our supporters are a vital part of Lancashire Mind and we are so lucky to have such amazing people on our team.

As Fundraising Lead I often have the first contact with someone when they choose to support Lancashire Mind. Many people chose to share their personal reasons for wanting to support Lancashire Mind with me. Every person's reason is different and they have all been on a different journey but what unites them is a sense of wanting to help others. This may be because they have experienced a mental health condition themselves or they may have seen someone they care for- a family member,  a friend or colleague- struggle through a challenging time.

I'm often told that people did not know where to go for information or to access a service. I'm also often told that it was accessing Lancashire Mind's services and support that played a part in enabling them or the person they care about to start to begin to feel well again.

Our Fundraisers & Supporters Help End the Stigma

Each time someone chooses to share their experience with me I feel humbled by their strength. It is not always easy to be honest about our mental health and there is still a stigma there. I feel very lucky to speak to and work with people who are so passionate about wanting to help others when it comes to mental health and wellbeing.

Having experienced mental health conditions myself it is rewarding to be able to support people through their fundraising journey knowing that they share our passion. But it's not only about raising funds, our supporters also play a crucial part in helping Lancashire Mind raise awareness. From those who have written a blog post for us to those who have provided us with content for social media, or hit the like or share button, to those who are talking about our charity with friends, families and in their communities.

Every conversation and story shared means less people will feel they have to live with a mental health condition alone.

Our Corporate Fundraisers & Supporters Care for the County

As an organisation we are also very fortune to have some dedicated businesses who share our vision and not only want to raise funds for Lancashire Mind but also want to promote the importance of wellbeing across their work forces so that employees know that they can speak openly about their mental health when they need to.

Every time an organisation decides to improve the mental health and wellbeing focus within their workplace, whether partnering with us, using our resources or utilising our workplace wellbeing services and training, they are part of driving the mental health revolution forward.

Every single person or organisation who chooses to support Lancashire Mind is playing their part in helping us to achieve mental wellbeing for all. We are a local, independent charity and, although often said  in the charity sector, every single contribution really does make a difference.

We are proud that all of the funds raised stay within Lancashire and we are incredibly lucky to work within a county of generous, committed, understanding and caring people.

We are who we are, thanks to our supporters and there aren't words that can explain what they means to us.
Thank you,

Emma
