Workplace wellbeing is of huge importance to businesses. Failing to acknowledge this can have a large detriment to your organisation, with poor mental health costing businesses over £42 billion per year across the UK. In Lancashire, 22.3% of working-age residents within Lancashire are economically inactive, which is 2.4% higher than the national average, and nearly a third of those people are on long term-sick. This high number of inactive residents is putting a great strain upon our health services and the Lancashire economy.

To tackle these concerning issues, funding was secured by Active Lancashire to develop the Business Health Matters programme. Lancashire Mind support this programme along with the University of Central Lancashire and ukactive. The not-for-profit programme offers a suite of solutions for local businesses such as health checks, free workplace wellbeing champion training, and wellbeing services.

By providing businesses the tools and support to improve the physical and mental health of their staff, the Business Health Matters programme aims to reduce the number of employees out of work due to health conditions and make Lancashire a healthier, happier place to live and work.

At Lancashire mind we believe when coming up with ways to solve problems, its important that we work alongside the people who need our help, giving them the time and opportunity to help shape our services ensuring they are fit for purpose.

That is why we are seeking representatives from Lancashire Businesses to join our Workplace Wellbeing focus group session and participants will receive a wellbeing freebie to help their organisation as a thank you for taking part (see below for more details).
