Our transformational Changing Futures coach, Anthony has helped a gentleman called James to change his life and wellbeing for the better by focusing on goals around his mental health.

After leaving school, James cared for his mother for many years before she passed away and has never had a paid position of work although this is one of his goals.

James suffers from depression and anxiety, and struggles with social interaction. Planning a routine around the Five Ways to Wellbeing – including a weekly walking football group as well as sessions run through local wellbeing groups - has meant Will had less time unoccupied and dwelling on negative thoughts, and more time being around other people.

Anthony has relished seeing James' mindset change during the coaching - so much so that James has embraced being outside of his comfort zone as opposed to fearing. He even enrolled himself onto an IT course through his local library completely of his own initiative.

James feels that his confidence has grown massively since working with Anthony and so much more comfortable in social situations. At the time of coaching, James was in the process of applying for a volunteer role at a Lancashire CVS (Council for Voluntary Service) - something he wanted to do a long time ago. but he has only recently felt confident enough to do so.
