Following a successful 6 month pilot, Lancashire Mind have received additional funding to expand and continue to deliver the Money & Me service.

Is the cost of living crisis impacting your wellbeing? Do you find that your decisions around money are in turn, affected by your mental health?

During the pilot of the Money & Me programme the team have been able to help participants to understand better their relationship with money, start to look at how this can impact on their mental wellbeing and have provided practises to enable them in taking the first steps towards financial and health goals. All of which are allowing them to live with less stress and anxiety around their financial situation.

Although the program is not designed to offer specific practical money advice and guidance, we have armed our participants with the wellbeing tools and techniques to support themselves in a sustainable way beyond the end of the program, as well as made referrals allowing them to engage with practical money or mental health support, to help them make significant changes.

Some achievements we have seen from our participants include;

  • The strength to face the reality about various debts, gather the information and form a plan on how to move forward in reducing these
  • The confidence to enter a Debt Management Plan
  • Having no conflict conversations with family members to allow them to understand their money situation when previously they had hidden issues
  • Reducing the amount of therapeutic spending which was causing worry and anxiety towards the end of the month
  • Strength to engage in communities with other people who are likeminded and made them feel welcome
  • The self-confidence to engage in social situations with boundaries in place to ensure they were not overstretching themselves financially
  • An understanding of what void in their lives they were filling with therapeutic spending resulting in stronger family connections and more quality time

If you or someone you know could benefit from this type of support, we are currently open for applicants to take part. We can offer the programme on a 1:1 basis or in groups. This could be an existing group or matching you with other people to form a group together.
