Mind, the mental health charity, is a national organisation that provides advice and support to anyone experiencing poor mental health. Mind campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. Alongside the national charity, there's a network of around 120 local Minds across England and Wales, as well as 150 shops run by Mind. This network is called the Mind Federation. Lancashire Mind is a local Mind.
Each local Mind is unique; we're independent charities run by local people who understand the needs of our community and tailor our services to match. We are led by our own board of Trustees and raise our own funds. If you fundraise for your local Mind, the money raised will be spent locally to provide services for people in your area. If you fundraise for Mind, the money raised will be spent nationally to further the work of Mind across England and Wales.
Lancashire Mind is an active part of the Mind Federation. We work closely with national Mind and several local Minds, especially those close to us in Cumbria and Greater Manchester. We develop our own services and products and share learning with colleagues across the Federation. Mind regularly provide opportunities for local Minds to apply to take part in projects that Mind lead. Lancashire Mind have collaborated on a number of these projects, including our current Money and Me project.
To remain a member of the Mind Federation, Lancashire Mind have to demonstrate that we are operating effectively and meeting Mind's expectations of good practice. We are assessed against standards set out in the Mind Quality Mark. We complete an annual self-assessment and are externally assessed every three years. We were last assessed by an external panel in September 2019 and following submission of evidence and completion of actions, we were awarded our continuing status as an MQM approved local Mind in March 2020. We will undergo our next external assessment towards the end of 2023.
