Leyland Truck's Story: 25 Lancashire Minds
Leyland Truck’s Story
The importance of managing mental health at Leyland Trucks.
At Leyland Trucks, mental health now forms part of everyday conversations.
From Mental Health First Aid training to confidence-building courses for managers, Maria Rogers (Learning & Development Manager, Leyland Trucks Ltd), reflects on the real impact training has had on workplace culture; including better survey results, open conversations, and stronger wellbeing support at every level of the business.
Backed by expert trainers and a compassionate approach, Lancashire Mind’s workplace training has helped Leyland Trucks take meaningful, measurable steps towards a healthier workplace.
“It’s changed the way we talk about mental health.”
I’m Maria Rogers, the Learning & Development manager at Leyland Trucks. We’ve has Lancashire Mind run several courses from Managing Mental Health through to Mental Health First Aid training.
I think the perception of how we manage mental health has changed significantly for the better within the business, and that’s been seen by a recent survey that we conducted. Showing significantly better results than one conducted prior to the training delivered by Lancashire Mind.
I think people are just more generally open to discussing mental health now within the organisation, which obviously has brought with it many positive benefits.
“It’s been clear to us that there have been benefits throughout the organisation – at all levels.”
Having Mental Health First Aiders in place thanks to the workplace training, has enabled people to have more open discussions. I’d really recommend that any business invest in this kind of training, as it really shows a commitment to the wellbeing of your employees.
We found the trainers from Lancashire Mind to be incredibly knowledgeable and also the sessions were very supportive. All delegates on the sessions felt that it was a safe and comfortable environment to discuss what can be quite challenging topics. So, not only are you getting excellent trainers with valuable content, but you’re also supporting a local charity that promotes the value of good mental health.
