Join us from the 5-11 February as we celebrate Children’s Mental Health Week ’24!

Why do we celebrate Children’s Mental Health Week?

“It’s a fantastic awareness week to mark as a mental health charity. It’s about empowering children and young people to have a voice! The week aims to raise awareness about children’s mental health and wellbeing, and to encourage conversations about mental health. Everyone can take part in #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek, including schools, children, parents, and carers.”
Lauren McAteer (Marketing Lead, Lancashire Mind)

Launched in 2015 by children’s mental health charity Place2Be. It’s celebrated annually from February 5th to February 11th.

The theme for this year’s Children’s Mental Health Week is “My Voice Matters”.

Early Intervention is Key

Lancashire Mind are committed to investing in children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing services.

We believe early prevention is key to supporting young people with their mental health, equipping them with resilience building skills and coping strategies to cope with times get tough. We do this through our work with schools and the community through programmes such as Bounce Forward.

#MyVoiceMatters!

“It is vital that we work with the young people of Lancashire to ensure their voices are heard; that their views and opinions are intertwined and weaved throughout our services and that we work with young people to coproduce our programmes, giving them that empowerment to have a sense of ownership for their own mental health, as well as supporting others. The young people of Lancashire are our experts and help to guide us with the support we offer.”
(Hannah Holden, Children & Young People’s Project Lead – Lancashire Mind)

Free School Lesson Activity

Join James for our ‘Think Good, Feel Good!’ virtual lesson.

Thank you for joining us for #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek! We’re excited to share our virtual session with you and your class, or child at home. ?

What you will need for our activity:

  • Each pupil/child needs a blank piece of A4 or A3 paper, a pencil and some felt tips or pencil crayons.
  • Play some music of your choice.
  • Whilst listening to the music draw squiggles all over the paper (try not to take your pencil off the paper). Try doing some with your eyes closed and some with your eyes open.
  • After a couple of minutes, stop the music.
  • Colour in the different sections of your design and write on things that help you express yourself and make you feel good.
