The Great North Run
60,000 incredible AJ Bell Great North Run participants run from the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne to South Shields.

Runners take on this epic event each year to fundraise, have fun, achieve a fitness goal, and join an amazing running community, no matter their experience or ability. From the rush of the Red Arrows flying overhead to the oggy-oggy-oggy chants, Great North Run magic can be hard to understand – until you’ve experienced it for yourself. This iconic race has welcomed millions of runners since 1981, and this year we mark an incredible 45 years of the famous event. AJ Bell Great North Run X Mul is an exciting collaboration with Newcastle’s very own street artist, Mul, to create a unique identity for the 2026 event.
Due to a high demand for the very limited places we have for this event, we are asking our supporters to sign up to register their interest in this event. We will then run an internal ballot for the places and will be in touch to let you know if you have been successful.
The cut off date for the expression of interest is Friday 27th March 2026.
