Lancashire Mind Roadshow 2025

Mental health charity supports thousands through countywide roadshow for 25th Birthday.

To celebrate 25 years as the county’s leading mental health charity, Lancashire Mind hosted a Mental Health Awareness Week like no other with a flash mob and a roadshow – providing people access to free wellbeing activities across Lancashire!

‘Community’ was the theme for Mental Health Awareness Week 2025, which ran from 12th to 18th May, and the Lancashire Mind team set themselves the challenge of reaching as many individuals and groups as possible. By the end of the week over 2,000 people had interacted both online and offline, and accessed free activities, support and resources.

The week began on a high note with Lancashire’s Local Vocals choir bringing a singing flash mob to surprised shoppers across Chorley’s town center. The choir sang what has become a supportive and uplifting mental health anthem for many, ‘Sit Down’ by the band James.

The week continued as Lancashire Mind staff hit the road traveling to 12 different locations in three days including schools, community hubs, football grounds, youth centers and town and city center locations.

Lancashire Mind CEO David Dunwell said: “We wanted to do something special to mark our 25th Birthday and Mental Health Awareness Week. The people of Lancashire and their mental health and wellbeing is always at the heart of everything we do, so it felt fitting to go out to as many communities as we could. Whilst the activities were full of fun it was also about raising awareness of our services to help others and showing the positive impact communities, in many different forms, have on our mental health.

Whether people picked a song for our Lancashire’s Wellbeing Playlist on Spotify, took part in our Lancashire themed quiz, found out about a service, what support’s available or added stickers to our wellbeing wheel. We’d like to thank every single person who we met on the roadshow and all the wonderful venues that welcomed us to visit.”

Jo Griffiths, Headteacher at Alder Grange School, Rawtenstall said: “It was great to be able to offer over 100 of our students the opportunity to access wellbeing activities during Mental Health Awareness Week. The Roadshow visit highlighted the importance of looking after your mental health in a way that was fun and interactive. We were also able to share lots of resources with students such as tips for managing the pressures exams can bring which was timely.”

Lancashire Mind also ensured all activities were accessible online too so that people could access it from anywhere in the county. We launched our Creative Minds: stARTing conversations project, which asks people to explore how art, music, poetry, photography and storytelling can help us understand and share our mental health experiences.

The Roadshow was made possible through kind donations from local businesses including the Eric Wright Group and Granby Marketing. The Co-op also provided a variety of snacks and fruit to be handed out along the way and provided spots for information stalls in six of their busiest stores over the week. Lancashire Mind also gave out 200 packets of seeds to offset carbon emissions and encourage local communities to start their own wellbeing gardens.
