Graham & Brown discuss the benefits of Lancashire Mind's Wellbeing Business Network

Graham & Brown’s Story

It’s more than a network – it’s a community: How Graham & Brown are prioritising mental health through the Lancashire Wellbeing Business Network

At Graham & Brown, employee wellbeing isn’t a tick-box exercise, it’s part of the culture. And when the Blackburn-based wallpaper company wanted to take their approach further, they joined the Lancashire Wellbeing Business Network (LWBN); a space built for like-minded organisations who want to create real, lasting impact around workplace mental health.

From reducing stress-related absence to encouraging honest conversations around mental health, Graham & Brown’s journey shows the power of putting people first, and the benefits of being part of a values-led network.

We asked Sophia Davey (HR Advisor at Graham & Brown) why her organisation joined the network?

I am an HR advisor here at Graham and Brown, a wallpaper company in Blackburn. We genuinely care about our employee wellbeing and so we wanted to be part of something bigger and somewhere that could help us connect us with other local businesses and see how they do things. And Lancashire Mind look like it aligns with our values and they seem really proactive in their approach.

We’ve definitely noticed an increase in how we speak about mental health, and contributing to a culture of openness and understanding. From a business perspective we’ve seen stress related absence decrease, people feel like they’re happier to talk to their managers, talk to us, talk to their colleagues about any problems that they’re facing.

The LWBN, isn’t like any other network. We’re here to support your workplace to support your team, with access to an extensive resource hub and both virtual and face to face network meetings with likeminded organisational representatives.

A business network with a difference

We know how hard it is for workplaces to support their team. With rising challenges for workplaces, changes in legislation and increased pressures on line managers; it can sometimes be hard to know where to turn for support.
