Lancashire Mind supporters gathered to take part in the stunning Morecambe Cross Bay Walk on Saturday (23rd July) to raise funds for better mental health in Lancashire - many of them returning for a second year.

People from across the county put their best foot forward - proudly wearing their Lancashire Mind t-shirts - to cross the bay. This 6-mile walk from Arnside to Grange-over- Sands features incredible scenery and an atmosphere like no other.

The walk, which raises funds for Lancashire Mind in memory of Morecambe teenager Sian Waterhouse, has raised over £6,800 this year. Funds have been generated through ticket sales and sponsorships, with individuals and local businesses taking part.

Fundraising and Communications Lead, Emma Bateson said: “The Cross Bay walk is such a special event in Lancashire Mind’s calendar and an experience like no other. We were delighted to be joined by 150 walkers this year and honoured to have the opportunity to walk alongside those who support us.

Jill Henry from Electricity North West took part in the walk with colleagues. Jill said: "Myself  and 29 colleagues from Electricity North West had an amazing time completing the cross bay walk from Arnside to Grange over Sands to raise vital funds for Lancashire Mind, although challenging it really was a fun experience and a day where we all got to know each other a little better.

"We are all committed to helping promote good mental health and well-being for all and the walk gave us the opportunity to tick our achievement off the bucket list whilst raising nearly £3000 to support the amazing work that Mind carry out. Everyone involved had the best day, and can’t wait for our next adventure."

Lauren Myers who walked with colleagues from Pierce Business Advisory and Accountancy Group said: "We thoroughly enjoyed the Cross Bay Walk and even more so when the rain stopped. The walk was very well organised with amazing views and it was a pleasure to be supporting Lancashire Mind. Great fun!"

Emma concluded: “To have raised £6,800 through this memorable event is just amazing and I cannot thank those who took part in the walk and who donated enough. I would also like to thank Sian’s family and friends who continue to support Lancashire Mind and who have raised over £50,000 to date for the charity in her memory.”

Tickets for the Cross Bay Walk 2023 will be available from January 2023 and advertised across Lancashire Mind’s website and social media. If you would like to receive information by email about the event please email [email protected]
